HOW TO SUPPORT IMAM JAMIL

Our venerated Prophet (saw) is reported to have said:
“When you see an evil, you must change it with your hand. If you cannot do so, then change it with your tongue. If you cannot do this, then (detest it) with your heart, and that is the weakest degree of faith.”

 

The Prophet (saw) is also reported to have said:
“Every Muslim is a Muslim’s brother. He should neither harm him nor leave him alone when others treat him unjustly, (but try to help him). Whomever will fulfill the need of a brother, Allah (swt) will fulfill his need, and whoever will remove a distress of a Muslim, he will find a distress of his removed on the Day of Requital, and whoever will hide the shame of a Muslim, his sins will be hidden by Allah (swt) on the Last Day.” (Sahih Muslim)

1. Make du’a for Imam Jamil and his family and supporters.
   
   
2. Collect data about the Imam and his legal case, and distribute the data. Visit the “Free Imam Jamil” MySpace page (updated regularly); website of the International Committee to Support Imam Jamil Al-Amin (updated); Imam Jamil website (good information but no longer updated); and the old ICSIJAA site (good info but no longer updated). Engage others in discussions. 
   
   
3. Engage in organized activities, programs, and events whereby information can be disseminated and discussions will be facilitated. Imam Abdul Alim Musa, Amir of the national As-Sabiqun movement, has made himself available to speak about the Imam’s plight at such programs and events. 4. Publicize the case on the Internet and in local and national newspapers.
   
   
5. Make sure Imam Jamil’s books are a part of your local and school library. If they are not available, write a polite letter to the librarian asking that the library purchase them so that people could benefit from them. In the case of a school library, get teachers and other students involved.
